Mission

The IGLR is committed to promoting and facilitating collaborative research and education on the Great Lakes.

About Us

The Institute for Great Lakes Research (IGLR) takes a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the complex environmental issues affecting the Great Lakes basin, including associated ecosystems such as tributaries, wetlands, and coastal regions, as well as the lakes themselves.

Building on the research expertise of current faculty and resources available on campus and through the CMU Biological Station on Beaver Island, CMU has identified research on the Great Lakes ecosystems as an area of strength and has committed to developing an institute to catalyze growth in both research and education.
